Good Value
for time on the water
It will cost you the best part of £4-6,000 a year to race any keelboat
New all-GRP boats are now available.
A wooden boat will always cost you an additional amount to make it look beautiful and have a contingency fund.
Allow a further thousand pounds a year for structural maintenance - offset by no depreciation.
That is what makes a boat like a Sunbeam special.
It looks fantastic, lasts a hundred years
and when well maintained holds its value.
To reduce costs owners can do some or most of the work themselves if they choose.
These are syndicate costs. Owners often form partnerships so they individually bear only a fraction of this and also allow "time-off" to pusue other interests.
.
This is comparable to owning a classic car, golf membership or not many weeks skiing a year for the family!
Remember that the Sunbeams can be raced for over 7 months of the year - from the end of March through to the end of October.
Racing at Cowes for Classic or Cowes Week adds to the costs, but are not obligatory. We do take part in some out-of-Harbour racing throughout the Season in addition to visiting Cowes.
The owners would be pleased to tell you more and make you welcome.
